Apophenia, the first volume in the series, opens with an index of objects—an evolving, porous taxonomy drawn from my studio and those of fellow artists. At once archive and meditation, this section attends to the quiet yet insistent impulse to gather: to retain fragments, materials, and ostensibly incidental forms whose significance hovers just beyond legibility, resisting closure.
My artist’s books arise from a practice grounded in free image association, where visual data, dream states, natural systems, and cultural histories intersect and coalesce. Through iterative acts of arrangement, juxtaposition, and layering, images are unsettled and reconstituted—destabilizing fixed meaning while generating new relational frameworks. In this shifting field, images become temporal indices, registering traces of memory, duration, and place.
The index functions not as a fixed system of classification, but as an entry point into an expansive associative matrix—an unfolding constellation shaped by the environments artists inhabit and the artifacts they elect to preserve. Meaning emerges here not as a singular proposition, but as a condition of proximity, resonance, and continual reconfiguration.
